El próximo 28 de Julio, Cherry Red Records lanzará un box set de lujo que contempla a las bandas y músicos mancunianos más talentosos dentro del periodo de 1977 y 1993. Esta semana compartieron el tráiler promocional, que mixea a algunos de los artistas que forman parte de este especial. El conjunto de 7 discos cuenta con artistas que van del punk y postpunk con Buzzcocks, Joy Division, Morrissey, Happy Mondays, New Order, The Stone Roses y The Fall, The Chameleons, a, britpop con Oasis, entre otros.
Titulado, Manchester Norte de Inglaterra: Una historia de música independiente | Greater Manchester 1977-1993, la colección contiene una lista de 146 canciones y toma su nombre y la imagen de la portada, de la compilación de edición limitada emitida en 1988 por Bop Cassettes.
Manchester North of England, es un tributo a la producción independiente de una de la más importantes e icónicas ciudades en la historia de la música, no solo nacieron y crecieron músicos que marcaron el rumbo de los acordes, sino que también se cruzaron y formaron bandas tan únicas como legendarias que permanecerán sonando en nuestras vidas hasta los últimos días. Con 146 pistas a través de siete CDs presentados en un box set. El compilado fue preparado por el mismo equipo detrás de los boxs Scared To Get Happy, Still In A Dream, Millions Like Us, Action Time Vision, tambien producidos por Cherry Red.

Estas canciones cuentan la historia de cómo la música indie explotó en Manchester después de la fiebre del Punk y el lanzamiento del EP ‘Spiral Scratch’ de los Buzzcocks. Con notas del periodista de música Mick Middles, y un prólogo de Mark Radcliffe, Manchester North of England, incluye muchas de las bandas clave de finales de los 70 a principios de los 90: Joy Division, The Fall, New Order, James, Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, Morrissey, John Cooper Clarke, The Charlatans,  A Certain Ratio, Durutti Column y último, pero no menos importante, el nacimiento del britpop, un nuevo camino en la música, con Oasis.
